Install or Not: AirDroid

Sometimes it becomes difficult to handle two different devices at the same time. What if you could manage your Android device from your PC. That’s right, Airdroid lets you manage your Android device via your favorite web browser. This application lets you manage your Android phone over WiFi without the hassle of using wires.
Here are some of its cool features:

  • Files
Transfer files between Android devices and computers with drag & drop support.
  • SMS
Receive, send, forward or delete SMS messages directly from the web browser.
  • Apps
Install, uninstall, backup, search apps and do batch processing.
  • Photos
Preview, delete, upload, download, set as wallpaper and photos slide show from desktop.
  • Clipboard
Share clipboard text between desktop and device.
  • Contacts
Group, search, create contacts, check and delete call logs.
  • Music
Play, search, upload, download, delete the audio content on your phone or set as phone call notification and alarm ringtones.
  • Realtime Android screen (PS: this is an experimental feature, root permission required)
    View your Android’s screen, take a screen-shot, or even record a screen-cast.
  • Video (Quick Time plug-in required)
View the video content present on the device on a bigger screen.

Airdroid works perfectly on devices running v2.1+ though it requires JavaScript to be enabled for the web browser. Chrome 12 or later, Firefox 3.6 or later, Safari 5.0 or later will serve the purpose (For best performance IE is not recommended). The app is free for download from the Google Play Store.
