Sentry is a fully automated Android app created by Aaron Dimet, which controls your WiFi usage to extend the battery life on your Android.

Features:

Quite often we forget to turn off the WiFi even if we use the toggles in the notification bar. This leads to battery drainage, and we all know how Androids are cursed about their battery life. Sentry is easy to use and configure. It works on automated trends to cycle our WiFi usage. If it finds the connection active, it does nothing, but if not, it will deactivate the WiFi connection. In the meanwhile, if you want to connect or disconnect to a WiFi network, it will not interrupt.

Sentry can be configured to run in any or all of three ways.

• First, Sentry can be configured to run on a polling interval, e.g. 30 minutes, and check the WiFi status periodically.
• Second, Sentry can set to check WiFi status every time the screen is unlocked.
• Last, Sentry can be set to run every time the phone boots up. Used in conjunction with the other two functions, this can either be used to make sure Sentry is always running or to simply check for WiFi every time the phone reboots.

Install or Not:

We all agree on this part that we forget to deactivate the WiFi. This app realy helps in saving our battery life by cycling our WiFi periodically. But doesn’t this app consumes battery while it runs in background? The answer is NO. It doesn’t always run in background but it is active only when it is cycling the WiFi as configured by you which don’t require more than a minute. So it is worth installing.
