BenQ have been the pioneers in digital displays that fit for any purpose. No matter how much you might have heard about it but the true feel of the monitor shall only be experienced once you use it. We got the product for review and, to be honest, we were impressed by the performance.
BenQ XL2420TX is an iteration to the 24-inch XL2420T with the same screen size but primarily concerning the 3D performance. BenQ has branded the XL series as the especially designed for gaming accessories so undoubtedly it got to have the best looks what we can expect from a monitor. The display panel is fitted in a black matte finish plastic case with 0.75-inch bezel size. It has a heavy yet strong adjustable back support which allows it to be pivoted in portrait and landscape that too at different heights. The support have a red hook to hold the headphones and a bright red hole to pass the wires which definitely looks cool. The 120GHz LED monitor features a host of connectivity options with two HDMI, D-SUB, 3.5mm audio out port, one USB upstream, three USB downstream, and DVI.
The box includes de-assembled monitor, user manuals, VGA cable,HDMI, 3D glasses, USB upstream cable, S – switch and power adapter. The wedge shaped S – switch has a rolling wheel and three buttons to set the picture mode without even touching the on screen buttons.
Apart form the usual adjustments like brightness, contrast, sharpness, color temperature, gamma, hue, and saturation settings there’s a Black eQualizer that enhances shadow detail and seven picture modes. The picture mode comprises of the Standard, Movie, Photo, sRGB, and Eco presets and two first person shooter (FPS) optimized presets. There is also an option to adjust the size of the image being displayed or the user can emulate different sized monitors ranging from 17 inches to 23 inches screen.
Taking the features into consideration, 24-inch display with 1920×1080 pixels resolution. Comes with 16:9 aspect ratio and 1000:1 contrast ratio. It has a TN panel with 170 degrees viewing angle and 2ms (grey-to-grey) response time.
BenQ XL2420TX is a gaming monitor so we tested it with different gameplay situations and found impressive results. The XL2420TX uses the Nvidia 3D Vision 2 (with LightBoost) technology to deliver realistic 3D imagery. It has a built-in transmitter for the 3D glasses included in the box so there’s not much external configuration to tweak for getting your content on 3D. Playing some of the Nvidia’s 3D certified titles, like FarCry 2 and Assasin’s Creed II we could jump to the conclusion that the 3D performance is undoubtedly awesome. The light boost technology along with 3D Vision delivered a well lit 3D picture with minimal noise. The viewing angle though it just satisfactory not optimal. We could actually observe darkened areas with shift in side to top angles.
The non-reflective display panel performs really well eliminating the glare from the screen giving players zero distraction for the light source. Gaming was smooth with no lag and color production was acceptable.
The BenQ XL2420TX 120GHz LED gaming monitor was found to be perfect for mid sized gaming. There is absolutely no questions about the performance while pricing might be an issue here. Being a gaming monitor one could expect it to be on the higher side just like all the gaming accessories.
BenQ XL2420TX is available for ₹31,000 as MRP in market which makes some sense. The average pricing of a 24-inch monitor is 15-16k INR but this especially designed for gaming has its own USP.
