Boult Audio ZigBuds Review: Low Latency Mode at a Budget Price

The year is 2020 and, true wireless earphones are launching left, right and center. In this cluster of TWS earphones, it gets tough for someone to make decisions on what to buy and, the brand to has to think of ways to make their offering stand out. Today, it’s Boult Audio’s turn, with the ZigBuds and, it is safe to say that in terms of making the buds stand out, the brand has done a fantastic job.

So, how are the Boult ZigBuds and should you buy them? Find out now.

Boult ZigBuds Review: Design

The Boult Audio ZigBuds have a design nothing like other alternatives. They appear to be very premium and feature a classy finish. This is quite uncommon for budget true wireless earphones, considering how most of the earbuds seem cheap. In terms of the interior of the case, the earbuds are placed far apart, which means one can take the buds out pretty easily. The case itself appears pretty premium and offers a matte finish, which means the case does not pick up scrapes or scuffs easily. The ear tips too are matte, which feel premium and pick up less dust compared to other earbuds.

As we had mentioned, the stand out feature is the light strip present on the earbuds, which look very futuristic and modern. The ear tips themselves are shaped well, meaning they can fit into the earphones well and do not fall off.

Inside the case of the earbuds, there are 4 LED dots which indicate the battery life of the case, for the users who wish to know the battery left on the case.

The earbuds also come with an IPX5 rating, which means these are sweat and water-resistant to some extent and you can use them easily while at the gym and even in light rain. The earbuds come with easy controls for playback and, there is support for voice assistants on both Android and iOS platforms. A mic is also present on the earbuds, which is an added bonus in the current world conditions.

For the users, there is also a low latency mode present on the earbuds, which can be used while gaming to reduce the latency, something that can be a concern while playing competitive titles.

As for battery life, the Boult Audio ZigBuds can run for up to 4.5 hours, but, in reality, the buds lasted 3.5 hours. With this case, one can squeeze around 16 hrs of battery life, which is pretty close to the advertised 18 hrs of battery life. However, the claims made are always a bit far fetched and, considering how most of the listening included the audio at around 80% volume, the battery life is pretty adequate.

Pairing these Bout Zigbuds is quite easily and also feature fast pair, meaning the buds pair with your phone as soon as you take them out of the case. This means that the user does not have to wait for the buds to sync and can instead start listening to tunes as soon as he/she takes the buds out.

Boult Audio ZigBuds Review: Sound Quality

The latest offering from Boult, the ZigBuds feature 10mm neodymium drivers which claim to offer a connectivity range of 20 meters, which is pretty high for the price offered. The quality in itself is pretty good, considering how the earbuds produce clear highs, mids, and even have decent bass. The sound stage is balanced though, which is a pretty good thing as most of the earbuds are tuned for providing better bass. Additionally, when listening to sounds at high volumes there is no distortion, meaning one can enjoy their tunes even at full volume.

Calls too were crisp and the receiver noted that he could hear my voice well and that the surrounding sound was not pretty high. TWS in this price segment usually have a poor microphone but the Boult Zigbuds are an exception and offer a pretty decent microphone.

Boult Audio ZigBuds Review: Verdict

The Boult Audio ZigBuds ticks most of the boxes when it comes to the earbuds checklist. The earbuds offer good sound quality, a decent bass, a standout design that is not too flashy, good battery life, and ease of use. The only gripe that we have in particular is the inclusion of a Micro-USB port, but, considering how the Buds are priced at Rs 2,499, we ought not to complain about it too much. Although the OPPO Enco W11 offers a slightly better Bass and also features a USB Type-C.

For the users who wish for a bit of flair, the Boult Zigbuds can be bought in three color variants, White-Grey, Black-Grey, and Red. So, for the users who like some flair, there is an option available.

To conclude, the earbuds are well priced and offer good value and, in case you are on a tight budget, you can surely go for the Boult Audio ZigBuds.
