We had a chance to review the device and here is our comprehensive review of the Infinix Smart 6.
Specifications Recap for Infinix Smart 6:
Infinix Smart 6 looks like a huge device at first glance and feels good to hold in hand, the materials used to make the device are definitely top-notch. At the front, we get a 6.6-inches with HD+ (1600 x 720 pixels) resolution with 500 nits of peak brightness. The bezels are also minimal around the display and the device has an 89% Screen-to-body ratio. The display also features a waterdrop notch at the top and we shall talk more about the front camera in the camera section.
At the bottom, you get a micro-USB port for charging, a speaker grill and a 3.5mm audio port. On the left, you get a sim card slot which is a triple sim card slot where it has house 2 sim cards and also a micro-sd card. On the left, you get volume rocker buttons and a power button.
The back of the device is made of plastic and it feels sold and it doesn’t feel squishy when dressing it hard, which is a good sign. Another interesting aspect of the device is that is it features an AntiBacterial design. The way this works is that silver ions have been coated on the top layer of the Smart 6’s attractive rear panel. The spray’s bactericidal effect can help to stop many germs and keep infections from spreading as much as possible. This is interesting and can surely be a great feature, especially in this pandemic.
The rear panel also houses a fingerprint scanner which in our opinion is placed slightly higher than the natural position and people with small hands might have some trouble unlocking the device. Apart from this, you have a dual-camera setup at the top and the overall camera is housed in a square module which looks like a quad-camera setup but it’s actually a dual-camera setup.
Talking about the software, the Infinix Smart 6 runs on XOS 7.6 which is based on Android 11 and the smartphone should get major Android updates for the next 2 years. XOS which is Infinix’s custom Android skin is loaded with quite a lot of features and some of these can actually come in handy. For example, you have a dedicated themes section from where you can easily download themes, wallpapers, fonts, ringtones, lock screens and a lot more.
You have a kids mode than can lock a few apps and only unlock pre-defined apps that kids can have access to. Other innovative features include Social Turbo, Gaming Mode, Smart Panel, GEsture support, a video assistant that can block notifications while consuming media and a lot more. All these features are built into XOS and can come in handy.
Apart from these, there are dozens of bloatware that are installed on the device, some of these bloatware apps include AHA Games, Bee, Boomplay, Facebook lite, Palm Store Phone Clone, Phone Master, XClub, Xshare, Yo Parts and a few more. Thankfully most of these apps can be installed and you should definitely uninstall all these bloatware apps as these can slow down your phone and can also drain a lot of battery.
Overall the XOS on Infinix Smart 6 is decent enough and can get the job done. With so many built-in features it can definitely help users, but with so much bloatware already installed, it can hamper the user’s experience and it should be minimal as possible. The rest the software experience is mostly snappy, apps load fairly fast and perform well for day-to-day activities.
The Infinx Smart 6 is powered by MediaTek Helio A22 12nm processor which is a quad-core processor and is clocked at 2Ghz. The processor on the device i.e Helio A22 is an entry-level processor and delivers decent performance. In terms of GPU you get an MG PowerVR GE-class GPU. And with 2GB LPDDR4X RAM + 2GB of Virtual RAM, you get decent performance and can also handle multitasking fairly well.
If we talk about the gaming experience, then the big battle royale titles like PUBG and COD Mobile can run at 30fps max. And there is nothing much to complain about that because you won’t see any other processor doing better than it in this price segment. Also, the budget Mediatek processors are known for heating up fast. Although the device maintains its temperature quite well. You may feel some temperature rise after playing for more than 30 mins.
For day-to-day use case apps like messaging, social media, news apps and casual games like Subway Surfers, Clash of Clans etc. these run fairly well and this is the use case of most users. Overall in terms of performance, the device fairs well and is snappy most of the time. And if you get rid of the bloatware apps as mentioned in Software section you can get slightly better performance and for the price at which the device comes at you can’t ask for more.
The camera setup on Infinix Smart 6 is fine and can get the job done for most users, especially in bright daylight conditions. The smartphone comes with a dual rear camera at the back and it’s quite funny that the rear camera module looks like it features a triple or quad camera setup while it’s actually a dual camera with a dual-LED flash. The primary camera is an 8MP camera with f/2.0 aperture the a secondary Depth sensor camera for portrait shots. Along with this is ais also a 5MP Selfie Camera with LED flash at the front.
The performance of rear cameras is good in daylight conditions with decent dynamic range and much better details. It does get a night mode but that really needs some updates as the night mode photos are not that impressive. The camera app features a bunch of shooting modes
Although some of the other competitors offer better cameras at this price segment. But still, the cameras on Infinix Smart 6 device don’t fall a lot behind. And considering the price of this device, this is totally acceptable and a decent pair of cameras are good enough for casual photography.
The Smart 6 is fueled by a 5000 mAh battery and offers 10W charging. While Infinix is known for providing humongous batteries with its smartphones, the Smart 6 is no exception. The battery on this device is 5000 mAh which has become quite normal in this price segment. It gives a very great battery life that can give you about two days of usage. Even if you’re a very heavy user you would easily get power for a day.
The Infinix Smart 6 also has a Power Marathon mode that can give you the most out of your battery life. The charging speed really needs an improvement. As we already mentioned, it comes with a 10 W charger that takes 3 to 4 hours of full charging time.
The device features a micro-UDB port for charging but it would have been great if it got a Type-C charging port like most of the other devices in the competition. Even if the device lacks in some departments but we have to credit for its battery performance.
Apart from this, the Infinix Smart 6 features 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 5.0 and GPS.
The Infinix Smart 6 is a decent smartphone that is built well, has a humongous 5000mAh battery, and comes with value for money pricing. The device is for those who are looking for an everyday smartphone for casual tasks and light gaming. With innovative features in XOS and the Antibacterial coating at the rear of the device makes it looks like Infinix has put in a lot of effort to serve its customers. And seems like it has paid off. If you are looking for a decent looking smartphone, with 6.6 inches huge display, big battery life the Infinix Smart 6 is the device to go.
The Infinix Smart 6 is priced at Rs. 7499 in India for the 2GB + 64GB version and the smartphone will be available only through Flipkart.com.
