The Lg G7 ThinQ tough follows an unusual naming convention, is one of the most superior yet underrated smartphones in the market. The device has soo much to offer for the price but because of less brand recognition, it fails to attract consumers. So here’s our experience with the Lg G7 ThinQ and do give it a read to know why one should consider LG G7+ ThinQ over the other existing players.
The device has glass in the front and back but it does attract fingerprint a lot. The device is quite compact and is easy to use one-handed. If you are a user who wants a smartphone that should give a premium feel than its better to go with other options. Its slim, lightweight and handy, unlike other players in its category. You shouldn’t worry about scratches as the device has Gorilla Glass 5 in the front and rear. G7+ ThinQ has a metallic frame which is superior in terms of quality.
The smartphone has a MIL-STD 810G standard which means it can absorb a fall from 1.8 meters. LG G7+ ThinQ is a complete water and dust resistant device and carries an IP68 rating. It basically means you can boost your Instagram game by posting underwater selfies.
LG G7+ ThinQ houses a 6.1(inch) QHD+ Display with a resolution of 3120 × 1440 pixels, 19.5:9 aspect ratio. At present, it is one of the most bright display in the market with 1000nits brightness level. Being a super bright LCD panel using it outdoors is a joy. The display offers several functions to customize the notch area, or you can hide it too.
The device comes powered by a beastie Qualcomm Snapdragon 845(64 bit) Octa-Core processor coupled with an Adreno 630 GPU for Gaming. The device is only available in one hardware configuration: 6GB RAM and 128GB storage. The smartphone runs on LG’s custom UX 6.0 UI based on the Android 8.1 Oreo. Gaming and multi-tasking is a cup of tea for this handset.
All major titles including Asphalt 9, PUBG Mobile, Modern Combat, etc ran fluidly in our tests. The only problem we saw here is that the device heats up quickly when playing games. LG’s own custom UI is buttery smooth and other than tradition Android Oreo features it has a lot to offer.
The LG G7 ThinQ being powered by the Snapdragon 845 SoC which is a proven performer, but most of the benchmark scores that this phone achieved were a bit lower than those of other phones based on this same SoC. Also, the G7 does get quite warm while gaming or even with heavy camera use, and sometimes to a point where it’s uncomfortable to hold, and this isn’t consistent behavior. With most phones, it’s only a small portion of the back that heats up, but here pretty much the entire back of the G7+ ThinQ gets warm, including parts of the metal frame. At times, it happened even when there was only background data activity, like while downloading an app from the Play Store or browsing Instagram.
LG G7+ ThinQ sports a 16MP(Aperture f/1.6)+16MP(Aperture f/1.9) Dual-Camera setup. One of the two cameras is a wide angle one and offers an impressive 107-degree field of view. The device sports Dual-LED Flash and we would say the focusing system on this is blazing fast. Probably LG is the only brand that still provides a wide-angle lens in its handset. The device can do 4K videos and can shoot Slo-Mo videos as well. The daylight performance of the rear camera is way better than its competitors. In the low light environment, you will have to face a lack of details and grains in the images.
LG G7+ ThinQ is simply way ahead than any other LG device. The “ThinQ” here stands for Artificial Intelligence that LG has embedded in the Camera app. The rear snapper is equipped with both EIS, OIS to deliver super smooth footages. In the front, it is equipped with an 8MP sensor. As we’ve seen in many Oppo/Vivo devices, this smartphone features advanced AI abilities to make your images stand out. AI can easily differentiate between tons of scenarios considering the situation. With the help of AI, it can recognize the object in the frame. The processing will be different for images of nature compared to the images of animals and vice versa.
LG G7+ ThinQ smartphone offers 3,000mAh battery along with Quick Charge 3.0 support. In our stamina test, we got 8.5 hours of runtime in continuous loop test. The score is average which could have been better considering the fact that it is a flagship device. We’ve got 11 to 12 hours of battery life with moderate usage.
LG is also offering a great feature for multimedia lovers. Apart from the AI, it comes with a Hi-Fi Quad DAC, which supports high-quality audio on your wired headphones. Using a pair of good headphones one can experience the real beats and bass. There is also something known as “Boombox” technology. According to LG, the smartphone uses its inner space as a resonance chamber which further results in great bass and treble levels.
The LG G7 best at what it’s advertised for – a premium design, durability, Hi-Fi Audio, great display, flagship chipset, and AI Cameras. It pretty much has it all, even if with the few small caveats. If you are confused between OnePlus 6 and LG G7+ ThinQ then there are some points you should understand. The G7+ ThinQ is a solid offering from LG, and more importantly, it’s available at a very aggressive price. For all those who were on the verge of buying the OnePlus 6 but were having seconds thoughts due to its lack of some features such as IP68 rating (dust and water resistance), a better QHD+ display and wireless charging, the G7+ ThinQ is a very good alternative. Also, the dual camera module implementation is
So in our opinion, the LG G7+ ThinQ is a well-balanced device and you can spend your hard earned 40K without a doubt on this.
