OnePlus 6 packs in the fastest SoC till date, Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 along with 6GB/8GB memory paired with 64GB/128GB/256GB storage depending upon what model you choose. To be honest, even the base model 6GB RAM and 64GB storage are enough for any smartphone user unless there is a valid reason to fill up the storage. The handset comes with a flagship-grade design using premium materials choosing Gorilla Glass 5 both on front and back for the first time on any OnePlus smartphone. Let’s have a look at its spec sheet and talk about why you should buy this smartphone.
OnePlus has marketed itself as a brand which is known for flagship killer premium products that launch at an affordable price point. This makes their offerings an instant buy and a complete value for money. Following the recent trends, the pricing has also drifted towards the high end but they still are no competition for anything in that range. OnePlus 6 starts from ₹34,999 and varies till ₹43,999 for the 8GB/256GB variant which definitely doesn’t come under an affordable category but still is a great value for money.
OnePlus has engineered the fastest charging on planet earth which we know as of yet. The previously called Dash charging technology works only under the company bundled charger and the iconic red cable. It barely takes half an hour to get first 60% power which at least can run your smartphone for the first half of the day. This is probably the most promising feature of the OnePlus 6 and we are yet to see its implementation in the wireless arena.
A true audiophile will appreciate this way more than the charging tech but it definitely makes a difference for all of us because we don’t want our pair of headphones to go obsolete. After Apple removed headphone jack from iPhone 7, it has been a trend followed by a lot of smartphone manufacturers. Though we know Bluetooth has its way to go, but let the technology be ready. Moreover, 3.5mm audio out is an industry standard which can’t just vanish all of a sudden and I believe there is no such universal replacement yet which can fill in the gap.
OnePlus 6 definitely is one of the beautifully designed premium product. It is the best OnePlus smartphone till date though I personally miss a unibody aluminium design. This time OnePlus has experimented with Gorilla Glass 5 both on front and back giving a design overhaul from the last product lineup. The best part about OnePlus is that they also launch first-party cases which not only give them a perfect fit but they also add on to the look.
No matter if you like it or not but, notches are a thing now. It all started off with Apple iPhone X which later on got pushed on to Android smartphones as an unwelcome trend. Product designers at OnePlus have done a good job minimising that area as small as possible trying to make it less annoying. To be honest, you will get used to it. We have also shared a how-to guide on one of the hidden features of OnePlus to hide that notch.
This is one of the most underrated features of the OnePlus smartphones. I absolutely love its use-case and wonder why don’t others have a physical switch apart from iPhone. It’s so relaxing to know just before heading to a meeting that you just have to toggle the button and there’s no chance you will be interrupted by any kind of disturbances.
Not much. But there’s something which we think might be compromised and have a scope of improvement probably in the future.
OnePlus 6 comes with 6.28-inch Optic AMOLED display with 19:9 aspect ratio and 2280x1080p resolution. Though the colours are well calibrated and there are three different modes to suit your preference, there is still a difference between a high-end smartphone display like on a Samsung Galaxy S9+. This doesn’t mean that OnePlus 6 has a bad display, its crisp and enough for everyone. There is a scope of improvement, maybe introducing a 2K panel might help but let’s see what do we get to see in future.
The camera on OnePlus 6 surely improves upon that of OnePlus 5T. OnePlus uses 16MP main sensor for everything and a secondary 20MP sensor to add more details and to get that bokeh on portrait mode. Compared to the previous generation, the pictures are sharper and capture more details especially in low-light. The camera has always been just right for the price but nothing extraordinary which leaves in a hope that maybe we will have an improvement with the next iteration.
OnePlus 6 is the fastest smartphone I have known till date. The super-powerful Snapdragon 845 with loads of memory and ample storage there is hardly anything that OnePlus 6 can’t do. No matter what you throw at it. OnePlus 6 again would probably be my this year’s favourite smartphone. With premium design and great pricing, this package surely deserves an appreciation. Battery runtime revolves around 4-5 hours SoT on a full charge to get a maximum output from 3300mAh. So should you buy it? Absolutely, we won’t blink a sec suggesting OnePlus 6 to anyone. The kind of performance it delivers is not even available on high-end smartphones. Good bless Oxygen OS. Overall, great device for 2018.
