LG G2 Review: Android’s Best Yet!

The LG G2 was this years most anticipated phone and was supposed to be the answer to Samsung and HTC against their S4 and One respectively, so does it perform like a stellar device? Let’s find out :

Design:

Diving right into what powers the LG G2 and makes it purr, you’ll first notice a 5.2-inch 1920 x 1080 display, which gives us a 424 PPI density. But what’s noticaeble is how thin the bezzels are! At just a 10th of an inch they are the thinnest on any smartphone till date and that makes a bigger screen possible on a smaller device.

The edges of the device are clean, free of volume controls and a power button. The bottom edge of the phone has a 3.5mm headset jack, micro-USB port and a speaker and microphone.

The biggest design gamble that LG played is placing the volume buttons on the back and that trick really played well for the company that gave conventional phone designs a new twist in todays era. We honestly loved the placement and had no issues reaching out for them.

Under The Hood:

The chipset inside is a Qualcomm MSM8974 Snapdragon 800, with a 2.26GHz quad-core Krait 400. In terms of processing power, it seems that the G2 is in no short supply.

It comes in 16GB and 32GB variants, with 2GB RAM. Connectivity includes Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC, Infrared port and 4G LTE.

Battery :

Seeing how powerful the phone is, it would be an obvious judgement that the battery would be pretty average, but there are a lot of surprises here too; to put it straight – it’s fantastic! The 3100mAh, which LG says is a step version battery, really works wonders with the Snapdragon 800s power saving mode to bring the best out of the phone.

We used 3G,WiFi, high screen brightness throughout the day and even while going to bed we were pleased to have 30% battery left. That is pure stellar performance.

Camera:

One of G2’s highly desirable and talked about feature is the Hardware OIS module that takes photos at 13MP in it’s full glory! Whether you’re shooting your lunch to post on Instagram, or a bathroom selfie for Facebook, the G2’s camera won’t disappoint.

Photos are clear, Colors are natural, Noise doesn’t creep in and Artifacting and processing is kept to the minimum. Another trick up G2’s sleeve is 60FPS video at 1080p, again a first on any Smartphone out there.

Performance :

Since LG G2 is equipped with such a powerful chipset and plenty of RAM, performance is excellent. In normal, everyday use, there is never any lag and it certainly doesn’t ever crash. Apps open quickly, and transitioning between apps is a breeze.

These benchmarks don’t do justice to how smooth the device actually is, even under heavy multitasking.

No matter if you’re using blazing fast LTE, playing graphically intensive games while Q-Slide apps kick in, everything is done without the G2 breaking a sweat.

Conclusion :

LG released it’s devices after brands like Samsung and Sony were done with their announcements and hence many people were patiently waiting for this flagship. We would like to say that the wait was definitely worth it.

The display and camera are really killer, and performance is incredible. It ate up every benchmark for breakfast, produced great photos and dazzled us with its high-resolution display. Oh, and on top of that, battery life was a charm. What more could we ask for? It only get’s better from here while we patiently wait for LG to come out with G3 sometime in the near future.
