RealMe 1 Review

Oppo’s new Sub Brand Real Me brought its first smartphone Real Me 1 in India at a starting price of INR 9,999 only. It has three different models 3GB/32GB, 4GB/64GB and 6GB/128GB priced at INR 9999, INR 11,999 and INR 13,999. We got the 3GB variant for our review and the here is our verdict after a month of usage.

Design and Display:

Oppo Realme 1 comes with curved edges and a glass frame body which is accompanied by a diamond finish just like the Oppo F7. The rear panel shines as the glance changes, it gives is a premium design. On the front, it comes with full-view display, sensors, and camera at the top and with onscreen buttons at the bottom. At the rear, there is single camera and lens on the top right side, a Realme logo at the center while a small Oppo branding at the bottom inscribed under the glass.

The 3.5-mm Audio Jack is placed at the bottom side of the edge along with the microUSB charging port and the speakers’ grill. We have a power button and SIM card slots on the right side and volume rocker keys on the left side of the edge. Overall, the lightweight body and appropriate screen size make it a great device which can be used with a single hand.

Talking about the display, it features a Full HD+ panel with a pixel resolution of 2160×1080 and 18:9 aspect ratio. The bezels around the display are slim and it gives the edge-to-edge display an appropriate size. Real Me 1 offers a vibrant display and crisp icons. The brightness is auto adjustable and works well most of the time.

Hardware and Software:

Realme 1 is powered by 12nm Helio P60 octa-core chipset clocks at a maximum speed of 2GHz. There is 6GB of RAM paired with 128GB of built-in storage. It supports Dual SIM with its hybrid slot (micro +micro/microSD). The first SIM supports 4G VoLTE while the other is limited up to 3G only. The other connectivity options are Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, Wi-Fi direct and USB OTG.

On the software front, it runs on Android 8.1 Oreo with its custom UI ColorOS 5.0 on the top of it. The UI on this smartphone is simple and colorful and it also offers a good number of customizations to the users. There are few bloatware apps preinstalled like Facebook, Amazon and some of UI’s own apps.

Performance:

The Realme 1 is a great performer when it comes to day-to-day life usage. It has responsive UI and the paired SoC and RAM works great to offers smooth usage. The gaming section is good as well as the benchmark section. It scores well in both. We played PUBG on it and we enjoyed the gameplay.

The smartphone comes up with the new Face Unlock which works blazingly fast and unlocks the smartphone quickly. It has 3410mAh of battery which offers a full day battery backup with moderate usage. The 4G LTE connectivity of the device is good and we didn’t find any type of lag in our usage period.

Camera:

Realme 1 sports a 13-megapixel rear camera with a single-LED flash. The camera captures impressive images with good colors. The captured images were vibrant and bright. The low light performance of the smartphone is average.

It has an 8-megapixel front facing camera which captured descent selfies. The captured images have the good amount of details and tone level. It also has a beauty mode which shoots a bit of enhanced images. The AI also works here giving a better output. Overall the Camera performance is good and the camera app offers good customizations to help the users.

Should you buy it:

At a price tag of INR 13,999, the smartphone is offering 6GB of RAM and  128GB of onboard storage which is great. Real Me 1 offers good usability, camera performance, face unlock system and updated specifications all within the budget range. The performance level is also great though yet it misses few points like fast charging and better SoC. Also you can check it out on Amazon.in if you find the device worth your dime.
