Review: Amzer Shellster Case for HTC One X

So, here is another review – the kind folks at Amzer sent me their latest premium case the Shellster for my HTC One X – as the name suggests it is a shell and a holster, Amzer is a mobile phone accessory giant – they are present in 3 continents and have a very wide variety of accessories for all the latest devices. So now a little more about the case.

Unboxing and Initial Impressions

The package reached me faster than any other I have ordered recently, got it in flat 24 hours – in a very bright and lively yellow packing. Inside was the Shellster case, in a nice snug plastic box, made for the shellster series, no brochures, booklets or extras with the case – just the snap on case and it’s holster.

Overall very well packed and great branding on the package as well as the case itself – nothing too loud, unlike some other brands we have these days.

Initial few minutes with this case gave me a very premium feel and it was very good to hold – I immediately slided the phone in the snap-on shell without any major issues, don’t have to wrestle it in, it fits in nice and snug – a perfect fit. And then I slid the phone with the Shell in the holster, this case was all about quality and productivity – that was evident from the very beginning!

Design and Usability

I have been using this case for a couple of days now, mostly I keep it out of the holster – however when traveling I like to hang the holster on my belt and slide in the phone at my convenience, works great and keeps the phone protected at all times!

All the buttons on the phone are easily accessible through the snap-on case, and it’s rubberized back adds great feel to the phone, as well as a good grip so that your precious $800 device doesn’t slip out of your hand – well, even if it does – the shell does do well to protect it from bumps and dents (yes, I dropped mine a few times – no they were not drop tests, just my clumsy hands).

The holster is slightly bigger in dimensions than the phone, obviously as it has to house it – it has a fantastic velvet layer on front side to protect the phones screen from any scratches when placed facing inward. The belt clip at the back is about an inch long – with a nice Amzer logo on it, the belt clip has a spring system – and a little metal frame which can be used to pop it out to double as a stand, at various different angles (grooves at different level) fantastic to chose your viewing angles. This belt clip rotates 180 degrees enabling one to make the One X stand both vertically and horizontally.

Though I haven’t used it much as a stand, but the holster doubles up as a stand – both vertical and horizontal – which is added benefit for all media buffs, though the belt clip cum stand does add bulkiness to the phone, but the sturdy quality is very evident even on the clip cum stand.

Overall very practical design, very good ergonomic and perfectly precision cuts. Full points to Amzer’s design team here!

Conclusion

The Amzer Shellster case is priced at around $15 and it is well worth it, the amazing service from Amzer will please you, they constantly update you on email about your order. The case has a very premium feel, great grip, precise design and superb ergonomics.

The case is ideal for anyone who wants to invest in long lasting protection for their superphone! This a super-case for a super-phone! 5 stars from me to the Amzer Shellster case for the HTC One X.
