Vivo V9 vs Oppo F7: The Notch hype is Real

Vivo India has confirmed that it will be launching its latest V-series smartphone the Vivo V9 in India on March 23. The smartphone was earlier expected to be launched on March 27, but it now looks like Vivo has preponed the date to March 23, possibly to align with the smartphone’s global launch that is slated for March 22 in Thailand.

Vivo’s rival Oppo is also set to launch a new smartphone- Oppo F7 in India on March 26. And we cannot help but notice that both the upcoming phones share more in common with the iPhone X. Both the devices feature a bezel-less display with an iPhone X-like notch.

Vivo V9: What we know so far

Vivo Indonesia had posted a one-minute teaser video highlighting the specifications and features of the smartphone including an FHD+ FullView Display, 24-megapixel front camera, dual rear cameras and face unlock. Detailed specifications and features of the Vivo V9 has been listed on official Vivo India website ahead of its India launch. This confirms 6.3-inch FHD+ 19:9 display, 16MP + 5MP dual rear cameras, a 24MP front camera with A.I face beauty, AR Stickers, dedicated dual SIM slots, Android 8.1 (Oreo) with Funtouch OS 4.0. Even though earlier rumor said that the phone will come with Snapdragon 660, the listing confirms Snapdragon 626 for the phone.

Oppo F7: What we know so far

The OPPO F7 smartphone portrays the device as “the best artificial intelligence” which confirms the Oppo F7 will feature AI capabilities such as AI selfie, Cover Shot, and AR (Augmented Reality) stickers. The company has not revealed any specifications of the phone officially, but rumors suggest that the smartphone will feature a 6.2-inch Full HD+ 19:9 display with 89.09% screen-to-body ratio. The report also adds that the Oppo F7 is likely to pack an octa-core MediaTek SoC with 4/6 GB RAM and 64 GB of onboard storage which can be further expanded with the help of a microSD card. The F7 is also expected to pack a 25 MP front camera with AI capabilities that enhance the quality of selfies. The front camera will also likely feature real-time HDR, an enhanced beauty mode, and AR stickers.

Both the smartphones look like an iPhone X clone with a Full View 19:9 aspect ratio display and a notch for the front camera. The leaked specifications of the Vivo V9 seems to outshine the Oppo F7, with Snapdragon 626, 16+5MP rear camera with 24MP front-facing camera. The pricing could be a deciding factor amongst Vivo V9 vs Oppo F7 and only time will tell Who wins this battle to be the ultimate iPhone X alternative.
