Gionee Elife S5.1 [First Impressions + Gallery]

Gionee recently has been quietly launching products, one of them being the successor of the stylish Gionee Elife S5.5 in the same S series. Gionee has segregated different series, where this S series is the stylish smartphone series focusing on looks. Gionee Elife S5.1 being the latest addition to the S series, packs even better design comparing to the Elife S5.5.

The Elife S5.1 is even more slimmer with 5.18mm thickness and now second slimmest smartphone after Oppo R5 which is 4.85mm thick. Packing everything in a mere 5.18mm thickness is an fine art which Oppo fails in their case compromising the 3.5mm audio out jack. The smartphone looks a lot like the new iPhone 6 to be honest in white color.

The smartphone is extremely light weighted and feels awesome in hands. Though we have handled S5.5 earlier, this feels better. The chamfered edges are painted gold while the rest of the body is white. The handset has been well designed but the hardware have been compromised over that. The smartphone packs a Mediatek MT6592 1.7GHz Octa-core chipset paired with 1GB RAM and 16GB internal memory. It as expected does not have any SD card slot so you have to survive with this storage alike Elife S5.5. It has a 4.8-inch IPS HD display with a resolution of 720×1280 pixels resolution. Talking about the camera, it has a 8MP rear camera and a 5MP front-facing camera. It is backed up by 2050mAh non-removable Li-Ion battery and runs on Android 4.4.2 KitKat operating system.

Gionee has also introduced the Amigo UI layer with this smartphone with some significant updates. The launcher looks different with new icons and widget support. There are some of the apps pre-installed like the N mobile security, WhatsApp and few games. Rest it is similar to Elife S5.5 after it got the KitKat update.

Gionee has launched Elife S5.1 in India for Rs. 18,999 and would be available to purchase very soon across the country.
