Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd has joined hands with Aircel, mobile service provider, and Google’s Helping Women Get Online (HWGO) initiative to help more Indian women to access the benefits of Internet.
The motive of this partnership is to avail the benefit of Samsung’s user-friendly range of smartphones with Aircel’s low rate internet packages thus making it possible for women of low and middle income groups to buy smartphones and use Internet. Awareness about this campaign will be done through Internet training sessions provided jointly by Samsung & Google on both Internet usage and Samsung smartphones powered by Aircel data.
According to the Google’s HWGO campaign only 1 in 3 Indian women access the Internet. In order to educate women about the usage and benefits of internet various Internet training will be done in cities and towns across 12 states in country ,targeting 4 million literate women from low income group . The program also targets girl students with an aim to build them as influencers and bring about a long-term societal change. In order to encourage women to explore the world of internet Aircel will provide free 500 MB data access for up to 6 months with select Samsung smartphone purchase. This collaboration of Google HWGO ,Samsung and Aircel will help women educate themselves, leverage new opportunities and lead a better life.
