BlackBerry had launched the first two BB10 running smartphones along with the announcement of the operating system on 30th January 2013. The operating system launched with 70k apps on the BlackBerry World due to @BlackBerrydev’s continous efforts seeding their developers with all the tools they wanted. BlackBerry gave 6000 Dev Alpha units to get maximum number of developers attracted to their platform. As a result, BlackBerry World now have 145k application database and is still growing. Some of the applications which were not available earlier have started appearing in the database. One of most awaited application was Skype which is now available for both the BlackBerry 10 smartphones that is Z10 and Q10.
Skype runs on the 10.1 Operating System on the BlackBerry Q10. As this new version of the BlackBerry 10 operating system launches on the BlackBerry Z10 today itself on the, BlackBerry Z10 owners will have the ability to download Skype for BlackBerry from BlackBerry World.
