webOS which unfortunately died with the HP Touchpad have got some new hopes. OpenMobile’s ACL that is Application Compatibility Layer promises to run Android apps on another operating system as if it was meant to be there.
Phoenix International Communications plans to resurrect webOS ACL by taking the project to Kickstarter. The team is showcasing an early build on an HP Touchpad, running Android applications in cards alongside native webOS applications. This functional ACL will avoid Touchpad owner’s to dual-booting on Android, giving them the freedom to enjoy the slick webOS with the functional android runtime.
The project is expected to be ready in a short development time, all credit to OpenMobile’s early work, and hopes to deliver the first final build by July. But first the Kickstarter campaign will need to meet its $35,000 fundraising goal. Interested in supporting?
