Apple’s new A10 chip with Integrated Fan Out (InFO) technology
The very first feature we learned about the iPhone 7 and we think this is going to be a real game changer is the new Apple’s A10 chip which will be using the new Integrated Fan Out (InFO) technology in order to make the device thinner and make have more performance.
The new A10 chip will be clocked at 2.4Ghz and that actually a huge bump from the last years 1.85Ghz. This is actually the biggest Gigahertz jump from an older iPhone to a new one. But this does not mean this would make a huge difference in usability. Few days ago the GeekBench results for iPhone 7 has surfaced and this one is a bit more convincing. It showed a headline score of 3379 for single-core and 5495 for multi-core. This is about 35% higher than what a typical iPhone 6s unit reports.
The Proprietary iPhone Design
This year we will have not just one, TWO new colors. This is a good news for all those users who a look for a new look and make the device stand out from the rest. The two new colors will be Dark Black and piano black. The current rose gold, gold, and silver models will remain part of the Apple catalog, but the Space Gray version could be replaced by a “piano black” hue that comes complete with a glossy finish. Although the Apple’s logo on the back of the phone is also matte for this finish, but the Silver iPhone 7 will still have a shiny logo.
More Memory and RAM
New reports claim that Apple will drop the 16 GB and 64 GB offering and add 256 GB storage tier. The new lineup will feature 32 GB, 128 GB and 256 GB models. The company will also bundle an additional 1 GB of RAM for the iPhone 7 Plus/PRO. So the iPhone 7 will feature 3 GB RAM while the iPhone 7 Plus/Pro will feature 3GB RAM to handle the advanced camera processing provided by the dual-camera.
Improved Display Technology (DCI-P3)
The iPhone 7 screen display will also be getting an upgrade. Although size and resolution are staying the same. The all new screen technology from Macbook Pro is going to be migrated to the new iPhone. And this means we are going to see new display improvements that include the new True Tone Display feature including new sensors on the top of the display that would allow a better night shift. The new display will support the all-new P3 Color Gamut (DCI-P3) which is available on the iPad Pro.
Upgraded Camera
The camera still remain at 12 Megapixel but with f1.9 aperture for the iPhone 7 but the Plus/Pro model will feature a dual camera setup. The dual camera setup would function similar to Huawei P9 setup combining a color sensor and an illuminating sensor. The new cameras will feature optical image stabilization and a 6P lens. According to the leaks the new iPhone might feature a Light-field camera application that would allow users to have DLSR like controls. The flash unit on the back of the device is also being re-imagined. It would now have 4 LED’s (two cool, two warm) to create a more effective True Tone flash in the upcoming handsets.
Adiós 3.5mm Audio Jack
The mighty 3.5mm Audio jack is going away for good. KGI says that that space will be used to enhance the Force Touch recognition system. Till now we have seen two different leaks of the packaging of the iPhone Plus indicate that one would come bundled with Lightning EarPods and the other comes bundled with Lightning AirPods. The lightning AirPods are the wireless ones very similar to Samsung Gear IconX. And it seems it’s going to a package that you can select while ordering. Also we are going to get the Lightning to 3.5mm adapter bundled inside the box.
Also at the bottom we can spot 2 speaker grills but iPhone 7 will not feature dual speaker setup. It will look like a second speaker grille but it will actually house a new sensor to improve the Force Touch user experience. So we might expect a 2nd generation of 3D Touch. The modern speaker on the other grill is much improved with a new improved amplifier. So we’ll get better audio just from a single speaker.
Forced Touch Home Button
According to the report, which cites supply chain sources, the iPhone 7 will feature a capacitive Home button with support for 3D Touch. This means that the home button would not actually be a moving part, though users would still feel as if they were pushing a button thanks to haptic feedback similar to what we have seen on the Force Touch trackpad on recent MacBooks. The Home button is one of the more common hardware components to fail on the iPhone, requiring users to visit Apple Stores. The switch to a capacitive Home button would also take away a major pain point for both iPhone users and Apple itself.
Laser Tech Proximity Sensor
The proximity sensor at the front of the iPhone is getting an upgrade to. From LCD Technology to Laser technology. This would have a faster response time and better recognition. And it might enable some fancy hand gestures that Apple might implement in iOS 10.
IPX7 Rating
So all the rumors that we have heard yet, all these suddenly start to make sense. The Keynote is taking place at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium in San Francisco on Wednesday, September 7, at 10am local time, (10:30pm BST).
