mega-6.3-3

Samsung this summer launched a completely new portfolio under the Galaxy branding which they called Mega. Samsung Galaxy Mega series comprises of two devices Mega 5.8 and the Mega 6.3 named accordingly to their screen sizes. Samsung gave the tagline ‘Don’t go just big, go Mega’ which we feel is appropriate for the use case.

We reviewed the products long time back, approximately two months earlier. Both the Mega 5.8 and the 6.3 are good to use for what they are meant for. I personally think they are too big to be called a smartphone. They are definitely phablets and 6.3 is even crossing the limits.

Counting on the devices for performance, we can easily comment that they are fit for regular usage which includes the rough multimedia consumption, telecommunication, gaming etc. We tested the devices for a month each. Thanks to Samsung for providing us the review units. During the testing period, the Mega 6.3 scored better in terms of performance and hardware whereas the Mega 5.8 seems to be handy as compared to the other one.

Why go for Mega?

We have answered this question earlier and the had made a video which can be watched below.

Verdict:

Samsung Galaxy Mega is a new lineup of Android smartphone which are meant for a different purpose. As we saw, Galaxy Tab 2 in India was a success. The reason being people want to carry their multimedia device along and they want to buy a single device for all their needs. Samsung solved the issue of handling, not exactly solved but we can say minimized bu introducing these two devices. Samsung Galaxy Mega 5.8 for ₹20k -ish is perfectly priced and should be definitely considered as an option if you don’t have any issue with the screen size whereas Mega 6.3 packs the best of the hardware which too makes it good option, value for money. There might be better options for Galaxy Mega 6.3 but it depends which brand would you go for. Samsung considering this case provides 100 percent security brand image and is expected to after sales services gives its value for money. In the end, its your call your money to spend but we shall say do consider them before buying any Android smartphone in the same price range.
