After 2011 Mac mini update when the optical drive was dropped, this is first first update since then. Apple has just announced an updated version of its Mac mini with the new Intel 3rd Generation Ivy Bridge processors, starting at $599. The base model will include a 2.5Ghz dual-core i5 processor, with 4GB of RAM and a 500GB hard drive. There’s a $999 server version as well, which will feature a 2.3GHz quad-core i7 processor and two 1TB drives. Both models will be shipping today.
