NEC may not be very popular as a handset maker, but that is probably because it sells its phones exclusively in Japan. It seems that is about to change as NEC has displayed three new smartphones which it intends to show off at the MWC, meaning it’s planning a bigger market than only Japan. All the smartphones are part of the “Medias” line-up, as it seems from the pictures, and there not many details, since everything is in Japanese.
The first smartphone from the left is described as “Best Cloud Device,” and it looks very similar to the Sony Tablet P with its dual-screen design and a hinge in between. The second smartphone, described as “Large Screen In One Hand,” which seems to feature a large screen in an impressively thin hardware package with the bezel also looking impressively narrow. The last device, “The Most Stylish,” as the name suggests, seems to have a stylish design, but it fails to impress me at least. I would wait a little more to pass any judgement.
A good thing with all three NEC smartphones is that they run Android 4.0 ice Cream Sandwich and are LTE capable. We’re sure to get more details as MWC kicks off, and we’ll, as always, bring you all the details.
