Unlike its usual record of updating for the iOS platform, Facebook has quite swiftly updated its iOS app with Retina support for the new iPad a mere two weeks after the device was launched. Top apps like the New York Times, Skype, Kindle, Kayak and Netflix have all already been updated for the new iPad, which makes you think why Facebook didn’t do it quicker. Some developers say updating apps take as little as two days, especially when using system fonts like the one on the Facebook app.
Also, unlike the iPhone version, the iPad version lacks the Timeline compatibility, and Facebook haven’t said when that might come. Besides “enhanced” support for the new iPad’s Retina display, Facebook 4.1.1 for iOS also enables users to go offline in chat, support several languages, and several important bug fixes that will make profile pictures, friend lists and photo tags appear correctly.
