Corning, makers of the famous Gorilla Glass announced the availability of their latest innovations, Gorilla Glass 3 and Antimicrobial Gorilla Glass in India at an event in New Delhi on April 24, 2014.
Corning have been into this business for almost 170 years and always have something in pile to amuse us every year. They had announced the Gorilla Glass 3 at CES 2013 and they came up with Antimicrobial Gorilla Glass at CES 2014 both of which are now available in India.
Indian market having a lot of potential have seen some serious growth in 2013. There have been a huge increase in smartphone sales during the year 2013 which not only made good bucks for big names but even domestic players. Several top domestic players have partnered with Corning to adopt Gorilla Glass for their products.
Corning is planning to further develop the consumer base in this year with the launch of new products for the market. Corning Gorilla Glass 3 with Native Damage Resistance along with breakproof now have some limited resistance to scratches. Tweaking both chemical and processing level, there have been improvements in the ionic composition which even with a little more thinness is able to provide better durability.
Micro organisms are everywhere and we try our best to protect us from any harm that could be made by them so why forget the phone? Corning have built-in the antimicrobial property using ionic silver in chemical composition to kill the germs on the screen keeping the other properties intact.
Currently Gorilla Glass is being used on 33 major brands, 2,400 product models, and 2.4 billion devices. Corning have their manufacturing units in United States, Korea, and Taiwan where they use their proprietary formation techniques to provide such strength and durability.
