Tablets have been considered to replace flight bags that weigh nearly 40 pounds each by commercial airline, but US Air Force goes a step ahead and wants to introduce the tablets into the cockpits. Air Mobility Command (AMC), has entered a proposal to purchase anything between 63 to 18,000 tablets which will be used as electronic flight bags.
Though, they did not specify whether it will be using an iPad or a similar device. The Air Force division said they were looking for something that worked with two iOS-only apps and had atleast 64GB of internal memory. It earlier announced in December earlier that it will be buying 2,861 of Apple’s second generation tablet. No deal has been finalized yet by the AMC, Lt. Col. Glen Roberts, AMC public affairs director said that AMC was interested in all kinds of tablets.
