Facebook started testing a new design for its Photo Viewer earlier this Feburary, taking cues from Google+. This new format is being applied for a large number for facebook users account today, so you might be in luck if you get to see it.
The significant changes in this new design is a shift to a landscape-oriented design. The comments and tag information is displayed on the right side of any photo and images are themselves allowed to scale up north of 900 pixels in beadth. This design is more practical, it allows users scroll down more easily to read the comments and respond to them. If you still don’t see the new Photo Viewer trying logging off and on again, its not long before the new viewer goes live for all Facebook users.
