Simplicity isn’t a common word for a company with a simple name, Apple. A patent discovered by Apple Insider suggest that Apple may be in the making of a simplified TV remote. The patent named “Apparatus and Method to Facilitate Universal Remote Control” shows a touchscreen controller that would be more simpler to use than today’s button clad universal remotes. The proposed method in the patent is to make a device with such a mechanism that it would detect nearby compatible appliances for the device to control accordingly i.e. less codes and programming for individual appliances. “The controls that are not normally used clutter the remote control and can cause confusion to the user when trying to locate a seldom-used feature,” as per the documents. The patent was first filed on September 2011 and is now made public.
