CyanogenMod the famous Android ROM has today released the first official nightly build of the Android 5.0 Lollipop. Android Lollipop as we all know by now, is the latest Android update which was announced at Google I/O on June 25, 2014 but the final build rolled out on November 12, 2014.

In the last post, which was regarding the CM11 M12, CyanogenMod mentioned that they have started working on Lollipop build for some of the devices. Since then which was sometime in November, CyanogenMod today made an official word about the same. Going by what has been published, CyanogenMod is roughly about 85% done with the first CM12 M release. In this initial release, we shall miss some of tweaks, but majorly the following have been left off from the list:

  • Theme Engine
  • Quick Settings reorganization and customization
  • Quick Settings Ribbon mode
  • Navigation bar reorganization and customization
  • Sound panel customization
  • Lock-screen quick unlock

The blog post also hints for some of the lollipop exclusive tweaks coming somewhat like Ambient display, a brand new Messaging app, and some small tweaks including a weather option in the new Lollipop extended status bar. As of now 31 devices are supported and the team will be adding more device to the queue later during this month.
