Huawei and Honor devices to get Android Vanilla ROM Update via Openkirin

Team OpenKirin is offering the old Android Vanilla ROM for the Huawei and Honor users. Team Open Kirin is brought three stock Android ROM’s under the AOSP Project. The three custom ROM’s are Lineage OS, Resurrection Remix OS, and CarbonOS. Currently, the project is limited to 17 devices from Honor and Huawei, and all of them need to be running Huawei’s EMUI 8 software on top of Android.

How to get the Android Vanilla ROM?

Step 1: Download the available custom ROM’s from the Open Kirin Website.

Step 2: Follow the instruction exactly as said.

Step 3: Reboot and you’ll have the new custom ROM’s

As most of the devices given are having Android 8.0 Oreo, the update rollout seems much easier. Project Treble will offer frequent software updates for both OEM’s and Custom ROM’s.

One more important thing that you should keep in mind, Huawei is shutting down its service which offers the Bootloader Unlock Code. The service will last till 22nd July, so you should better hurry and update is as soon as possible. As it will take a while for some third-party software to unlock the bootloader later.
