This won’t be special news for foursquare addicts as they mostly use the smartphone application. But Foursquare has announced that it’s ‘Explore’ feature, which recommends users with places to eat, drink or visit based on the user’s check-ins will now be available for their web version.

This will likely move the focal point of the service away from check-ins and badges toward competitors such as Yelp and Zagat. And if you ask us, those companies should be very afraid, as Four square’s recommendations have the capacity to be far more tailored to individual users based on their previous check-ins, and their friends, than those services do.
