Oneplus has been really quick in providing regular OTA updates to owners of the OnePlus 3, OnePlus 3T and the OnePlus 5. And like all other OEMs Oneplus too has relied on pushing out OTA updates to bring new features of some pre-installed applications to their users. But most of the times these new features are only restricted to system app updates and thus making a longer changelog and delaying the overall OTA process. So, to speed up the OTA process, OEMs have a trend to shift all the system apps to the Play Store. Today Oneplus has announced they are shifting four of their in-house apps to the Google Play Store so that users have a faster access to app updates without waiting for an OTA to arrive.
The company is calling these Individual Application Updates and this new transition includes OnePlus Launcher, OnePlus Community, OnePlus Weather and OnePlus Gallery. According to Oneplus, the Launcher app will be the first of these that receives the next update from the Play Store. Here’s the changelog:
Optimized home screen folder icon, with a preview of the first four icons in the folder.
Redesigned style to mark folders that have already been opened.
Double finger touch support, allowing you to hold an item while sliding on the home screen.
