YU the youth focus smartphone brand on Tuesday launched its second smartphone, the Yu Yuphoria in India. The device has all the features that are common in a flagship device in addition to a metallic frame that gives this device a premium look. With all these features the device is budget friendly and is price at INR 6,999. The device will be available in Buffed Steel and Champagne Gold colours.
The Yu Yuphoria is powered by a Snapdragon 410 (four 64-bit CPU cores and Adreno 306) with 2GB DDR3 RAM. It runs Cyanogen OS 12, based on Android 5.0 Lollipop. There’s 16GB of on-board storage, plus a microSD card slot supporting external memory up to 32GB.
The device has been launched at an aggressive pricing that will compete with brands like Xiaomi and Motorola, but the only thing besides powerful specification that makes this device different from others in the same price range like Xiaomi Redmi 2 is that the device is loaded with Cyanogen OS 12. The latest addition to CyanogenMod OS is Choice which has features like a Dialler with true-caller inbuilt, email powered by Boxer and Audio FX. There’s also an App Theme function which lets users set a particular theme for individual applications. Users have the option not to use the Choice option.
Interestingly, the phone features a Wolfson audio chip, which promises great audio quality. Wolfson has provided hardware for Galaxy S flagships, so it’s a surprise to see that kind of hardware at this price point. The loud speaker on the back promises 85+ dB of sound.
The device is completely build in India following the “Make In India” campaign, the first couple of batches for the Yuphoria will be shipped from China and that the rest of the units will be made-in-India.
