Microsoft Mobile Oy which was formerly known as Nokia Oyj launched the Nokia Lumia 630 in India today at their press conference in New Delhi. The phone was announced at the Microsoft build which was held in San Fransisco earlier this year along with Nokia Lumia 930. Talked about as the successor to the not so popular Nokia Lumia 620, Nokia Lumia 630 is the first Windows Phone 8.1 handset launched in India and is the first dual SIM handset running Windows Phone for a very aggressive price of ₹10,500 for single SIM variant and ₹11,500 for dual SIM variant.
Getting the pricing right, Nokia is leading this segment in the smartphones category. With Lumia 520 selling at 8,000, then to Lumia 525 with higher RAM to 10k and now Nokia Lumia 630 with a whole new set of experience I would say its a win-win for Indian consumers. Though Androids have been made available at this pricing since ages the difference which makes Nokia Lumia 630 special is that Windows Phone performs better with this segment than Android but there comes an exception. Moto G is a game changer and we know why. With Motorola having their expected ‘Moto E’ launch in India tomorrow, this couldn’t have been any better. The smartphone is expected to launch under 10k price point with an experience that we experienced with the Moto G.
Nokia lumia 630 sports a 4.5-inch FWVGA display with ClearBlack LCD and Gorilla Glass 3 protection. It packs a Qualcomm Snapdragon Quad-core processor with 512MB of RAM and 8GB internal memory and comes with an expandable memory option up to 128GB via an external microSD card. Featuring a 5MP camera and 1830 mAh battery along with low power motion sensors it allows you to track your fitness without the use of any wearables directly from the smartphone. We had published the gallery and our initial impressions of the handset at the WP 8.1 India showcasing event. Complete hardware specifications of the handset are listed below.
