Samsung Galaxy Note 3

Samsung launched their greatest smartphone of the complete Galaxy smartphone series as of now which is the Samsung Galaxy Note 3. Galaxy Note 3 is the third iteration of the Note series which is basically a phablet which increasing screen size starting from the Note in 2011. Samsung Galaxy Note 3 brings some good innovative stuff under public reach which earlier has never been out there.

The USP of the device if you ask me is the S-Pen which is actually more than just a stylus but yes looks the same. Samsung Galaxy Note 3 packs top notch hardware specifications which a Samsung’s in-house octa-core processor, 3GB of RAM (the first smartphone to ship with this much RAM) and the latest Android 4.3 Jelly Bean (this too first). I feel like Note 3 grows on you when you use it for some time. I have been reviewing the device for the past 2-3 weeks and honestly saying even if you don’t need it but you still want to have it.

Why Choose Note 3 over other smartphones?

To answer this question we have made a short video which can be watched below. It describes the use of S-Pen and how we can make use of the dot, circle and the box in our daily life.

The most prominent feature while using the S-Pen is the Air Command. Air Command is the floating menu for S-Pen which automatically appears on the screen every time you take the S-Pen out of the case or just point to the screen with the button on the S-Pen long pressed. A dot will appear on the screen and net you will see a menu coming out of it. The Air command can be disabled from the settings but we recommend to keep this as it is because it comes very handy when you actually start using it.

The Air Command has five different options to do from your S-Pen:

Action Memo

Action Memo is the another floating app which is executed above other applications running in background. It not even covers the whole screen yet provides quite useful features to do. You can scribble any number on this area and that number can be added to your contacts or can reach your dialler application. This comes most handy when you are on a call and you want to note down a number. Ask me how helpful this was when I was not carrying a pen and was driving, such a bliss. You can even write any place you want to find on Google Maps and it will point you to that area on Google Maps. There are more of the features which needs to be known but for that you have to buy the smartphone.

Scrap booker

A scrapbook is a collection of the randomenst things you find on this planet. The same way Samsung has developed a scrapbook on the device which collects the data you want in a different place and can be accessed for later use. This even includes a youtube video which can be cached for offline usage.

Screen Write

A screenshot where you can scribble on the screen and share with anyone, anywhere on the web.

Pen Window

This the box we have been talking about. When you want to use your phone like a super phone for example, while reading a mail, you want to calculate something or maybe continue a chat with someone on whatsapp just select this option, draw a box and the application will simultaneously run on the top with the previously running application in the background and you can work simultaneously. This is different than multi-window. For a demo take a look at the video above.

S-Finder

Basically this is a search engine for your smartphone just like Google for the web. It knows what you have done in the past few days and segregates the stuff stored on the device depending upon the usage. If you get a chance to play with the Note 3 do try this, its very cool.

Verdict:

We all are known with the Samsung Galaxy Note series and its use case. Public nowadays is quite aware of the technological facts and is passionate about smartphones. Earlier when a 10k phone used as a status symbol, now it comes in the low-end category. Time has changed and along with that the public perception. People now actually use a smartphone in their daily life for other stuff other than calling. Samsung Galaxy Note 3 though costs a very big amount but it is because it packs that many features. Samsung has put a lot of effort into building this product as what we see today and that wouldn’t have been possible if they have not invested that much amount. Note 3 is undoubtedly a fantastic Android smartphone and I would love to use it as my daily driver. It almost checks everything for my perfect Android except the battery because I am not able to run it for a day. The dot, circle and the box is definitely useful and if you are not using it, my friend you are not doing this right.
