Basically, you all must be quite used to now about the Apple Samsung patent war news. For a change, we have reports saying Apple are Samsung are likely to meet for patent settlement talk issues. According to the reports posted by Florian Mueller of FOSS Patents, Apple CEO Tim Cook and Samsung representatives which includes the likes of Gee-Sung Choi, Samsung’s Vice Chairman and CEO, are set to meet in a San Francisco court to discuss patent settlement options.
Judge Lucy Koh, the representative of the Northern District Court who is said to be tough-as-nails and is presiding over the two lawsuits that the Samsung and Apple are currently fighting in California has requested for the meeting which is reported to happen within the next 90 days and will be overseen by U.S. Magistrate Judge Joseph C. Spero.
Apple and Samsung laid out their views after the request had been made to participate in a Magistrate Judge Settlement Conference:
As directed by the Court, Apple and Samsung are both willing to participate in a Magistrate Judge Settlement Conference with Judge Spero as mediator. At Apple, the chief executive officer and general counsel are the appropriate decision-makers, and they will represent Apple during the upcoming settlement discussions. At Samsung, the chief executive officer and general counsel are also the appropriate decision-makers, and they will represent Samsung during these settlement discussions.
This is basically a court ordered session where Apple and Samsung representatives will discuss their ongoing patent issues and if settling and non settling in their view is in their best interest. Well this should certainly make the proceedings interesting in this never ending Samsung Apple patent war.
