HTC has just announced that they are bringing full Indian language support which includes Indian languages Hindi, Tamil and Marathi to its current smartphones including One X, the One S, the One V, Desire C and Desire V. The language support will come to the aforementioned devices through an OTA update and HTC plans to bring Bengali language support in August.

HTC is the first major Android OEM to bring native support for local Indian languages across a line-up of smartphones. The company had started adding local Indian language support with last year’s HTC Explorer.

Users will be able to read and write in Hindi, Tamil and Marathi through all messaging functions on HTC smartphones launched this year, while browsing the Internet and all applications available through Google Play.

HTC ANNOUNCES FULL INDIAN LANGUAGE SUPPORT FOR HTC ONE AND DESIRE FAMILY OF SMARTPHONES

New Delhi, July 16, 2012-HTC, a global designer of smartphones, today became the first global smartphone brand to roll out full language support for Hindi, Tamil and Marathi on its range of innovative smartphones. Users will be able to read and write in Hindi, Tamil and Marathi through all messaging functions on HTC smartphones launched this year, while browsing the Internet and all applications available through Google Play. These include HTC One X, HTC One S, HTC One V, Desire C and  Desire V,  In addition, users will also be able to view a fourth language, Bengali, on selected applications available on Google Play.  With this rollout, HTC has kept its promise of integrating full native language support for its smartphones in India, beginning with the HTC Explorer in Q4 20111.

Availability

 

Reading and writing capability for Hindi, Tamil and Marathi will be made available on  HTC Desire C and Desire V, sold in India through an automatic software update that will be downloadable by users starting from today. Bengali language viewing capability will be available from August 2012.
