We already got a whiff about the Windows Phone 8 code-named “Apollo” issues which we shared with you all in past posts, i.e. the present devices might not get upgraded to the Windows Phone 8. Now, another close source has stated that there is no future upgrade for current devices running on Mango to Apollo.
Though Microsoft responded to this statement earlier today saying:
We have stated publicly that all apps in our Marketplace today will run on the next version of Windows Phone. Beyond that, we have nothing to share about future releases.
We all know that there has been as fuss regarding the backward compatibility of apps on the WP8 platform which the devs at Microsoft are facing a hard time dealing with and since all the purchased apps of WP7 will be lost if this is the case, so Microsoft isn’t sure about pushing the Apollo update to the current devices running Mango, according to the sources. But if such happens, the company is sure to hammer a nail down its own coffin seeing the current sales of Nokia Lumia 900 and other WP7 devices, and the users surely will not be happy to hear this news.
