Microsoft just announced Windows Phone 8 as their new heir for the windows mobile operating system at the Windows Phone Developers Summit.
The new OS will support multi-core CPUs (dual, quad or more in the future), and will also offer three different screen resolutions, 400X800, 1280X720 and 1280 x 768. Windows Phone 8 will also finally bring support for microSD cards along with Internet Explorer 10 built-in into the OS, and its rendering engine will mirror the desktop version.
Microsoft also says apps developed for 7.5 will work fine on the new resolutions too.
