Xiaomi today have launched the successor of its super popular smartphone in India, the Redmi 1S. Called as the Redmi 2, Xiaomi has brought some of the finest improvements with its dual-SIM experience.

Xiaomi Redmi 2 is powered by a Snapdragon 410 64-bit chipset with quad-core processor clocked at 1.2GHz and Adreno 306GPU. The smartphone comes with 1GB RAM and 8GB internal memory which can be further expanded up to 32GB via external microSD card. Redmi 2 has a Sharp/AUO 4.7” IPS HD Fully laminated display protected by AGC Dragontail glass. The Redmi 2 supports 4G on both the SIM card slots with both FDD and TDD LTE bands. Redmi 2 comes with MEMs noise-cancelling microphones. Better signal-to-noise ratio than traditional ECM microphones. Redmi 2 is thinner and lighter with the same screen size and less bezels. Redmi 2 runs MIUI 6 based on Android 4.4.4 and is backed by 10% more battery than Redmi 1S with QuickCharge 1.0. The smartphone comes with 8MP rear camera and 2MP front-facing camera. The Xiaomi Redmi 2 is priced at ₹6,999 with registrations starting today for sales on March 24, 2015.

There will be a limited edition Redmi 2 featuring 16GB internal memory and 2GB RAM soon. Xiaomi is also launching its tablet, Mi-Pad finally in India today. The Mi-Pad features a NVIDIA Tegra K1 processor with 2GB RAM and 16GB Flash (Expandable to 128GB via microSD card). It sports a 7.9-inch IPS display and a 8MP rear camera and will be coming to sale in India without any registrations. The Mi-Pad has been priced at ₹12,999 and will be available from March 24, 2015.
