This year’s keynote at CES by Microsoft was its last at the event and the Redmond company has announced that thry are no longer going to have the MIX event which has been held annually for six years, is usually organized for a March or April timeframe in Las Vegas.

MIX was the event to find out the future of Silverlight, Internet Explorer, Windows Phone and web technologies like HTML5 and CSS3 but Microsoft has decided that they are not going to hold the event instead replace with another developer conference or either merge it into another event of theirs saying they received a lot of negative feedback from developers, who were confused by its conference choices, and reporters, analysts, and tech bloggers who were trying to manage “event fatigue” from the large number of Microsoft developer events in a calendar year.

We can expect the web development sessions will be part of the next BUILD event which could take place later this year along side of a Windows 8 launch.
