Research in Motion announced today that the United States Department of Defence have approved the use of BlackBerry 7 smartphones for use on their networks allowing them to take full control of their vast range of applications released last year. The devices in question are the Bold 9900/9930, the Torch 9810, the Torch 9850/9860 and the Curve 9360. BlackBerry OS 7 has already been crowned the most secure mobile platform there is and thanks to the FIPS 140-2 validation and Common Criteria EAL4+ accreditation they now have the certifications to prove it. This news comes just a few months after other US government subsidiaries announced that they would be shifting from BlackBerry devices to iPhone devices to provide for their needs.
